Syracuse, N.Y. — Lasagna has very little to do with sushi, but don’t bother the chefs at Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar in Armory Square with such nonsense. They’re busy making rolls both to ride on the sushi bar’s conveyor belt and for customer orders.
For the Lasagna roll ($9), four pieces of California roll — cooked crabmeat, avocado and cucumber — topped with a reddish crabmeat salad and mozzarella cheese to look like a thin piece of the Italian casserole. The topping gets a quick hit with a torch before serving, giving it a look of red sauce with melted cheese and some oven browning.
