A new, and different kind of sushi bar is getting ready to open in Pittsburgh
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will open in the SouthSide Works “late summer.”
Kura is nothing like you’ve ever experienced at a sushi bar before. Food is served through a couple conveyor belt systems that has safety measures in place to keep food safe and fresh. There are also prizes.
One is called the Revolving Sushi Bar. It “snakes” around the restaurant with food for people to pick from.
The Express Bet is also called “sushi highway”. Sushi place orders using a touch panel tablet at their table and the food come to them from the kitchen with over 140 items to choose from.
The “Bikkur Pon” is Kura’s prize system, touch panel and plate disposal slot.
“The touch panel registers the number of sushi plates dispensed into the plate disposal slot. After every five plates inserted, a short animation will play on the touch panel and after every fifteen plates inserted, a prize will be dispensed from the prize machine. Prizes vary by collaboration from lanyards to chopsticks, badge reels, keycaps, acrylic chains, and more!”
It also features robots that deliver drinks to you.

Kura’s first location opened in Japan in 1977, the first PA location opened in Philadelphia late last year.
