Kearney firefighters respond to conveyor belt fire at Andersen Wrecking Co. – 1340 KGFW

KEARNEY — Members of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a conveyor belt fire which occurred at Andersen Wrecking Company during the late morning hours of Monday, Feb. 26.
Around 11:39 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Andersen Wrecking Co. for the report of a conveyor belt which had caught on fire.
The fire appeared to have occurred on the west side of the facility near the intersection of E. 20th St. and I Ave.
Firefighters and multiple fire engines arrived on scene to tackle the blaze, which appeared to have started near the top of the conveyor. Black smoke poured from the site, blown by the wind gusts up to 30 mph.
The cause of the fire and any injuries associated with the fire were not available on scene.
